With less than a month to go before the start of its annual World Fashion convention, the International Apparel Federation (IAF) has released more details of the line-up, which includes speakers from Desigual and Disney, McKinsey and the World Bank.

The event this year takes place from 29 September to 1 October in Medellín, Colombia, and each of the speakers has been tasked with addressing a challenge faced by the industry and offering opportunities to grow and improve business.

Horacio Broggi director of Desigual Latin America will look at omnichannel strategies; Claudio Chiaromonte, director of The Walt Disney Co Latin America, will discuss "consumer centricity"; and Emiliano Duch, director of competitiveness at the World Bank, will examine the relationship between Latin America and the rest of the world.

The expert line-up also includes apparel sourcing specialist David Birnbaum, Massimo Mazza of McKinsey, Emiliano Duch of the World Bank and innovators such as Stefan Siegel of Not Just a Label.

Mazza will present McKinsey's research focusing on the spending trends of Latin American consumers; Birnbaum, will share his vision on value chain cooperation; and Siegel, whose online boutique sells clothing from 13,000 young designers from 106 countries, will look at innovation in the digital channel.

As well as exploring how fashion companies can make the most of growing markets around the world, discussions will also focus on opportunities for Colombian brands to take on the global market.

A panel of Colombian companies will discuss export opportunities, including Fernando Pimentel, the executive director of Brazilian apparel association Abit.

The Convention will take place in Colombia's second largest city Medellín, which has shed its troubled past and is today "a great backdrop for the optimistic and entrepreneurial attitude the Convention will have," the IAF says.
