Footwear manufacturer Skechers USA has filed a lawsuit against L.L.Bean, accusing the Maine-based company of copying a shoe design, according to local media.
The lawsuit, filed in New York City federal court, claims that L.L.Bean's Freeport shoe features a "heel cup" design similar to a patented design used by Skechers.
Skechers describes its design as unique and visually appealing due to its "graceful, sweeping, gently rolling lines and slopes" that enhance the ornamental appearance of the shoe's heel. The California-based company seeks unspecified damages and an injunction to stop L.L.Bean from selling the contested Freeport shoes.
L.L.Bean has not yet responded to a request for comment from Spectrum News.
