The 15th National Conference on Leather Science and Technology and the 26th
Annual Meeting of China leather Science & Technology Commission of CLIA
were successfully held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, from November 8th to 10th,
2024. Over 300 participants, including industry experts and scholars,
entrepreneurs, scientific and technological practitioners from research
institutions, technical personnel from enterprises, teachers and students from
relevant universities, attended the conference.
With the theme of "Science and Technology Driving New Quality
Development," this conference conducted in-depth and extensive communications
on industrial developing updates and technological innovations over the past
two years, centering on topics such as advancements in fundamental leather
science research, clean/intelligent manufacturing technologies, innovative
achievements in leather chemicals, pollution treatment and waste resource
utilization technologies, analytical and testing methods for leather and
leather products, and high-value utilization of collagen. The conference played
a guiding role in the technological and new quality development of the entire
industry.
Five industry experts were specially invited to deliver speeches on topics
including "Diversified High-Value Utilization of Leather Collagen,"
"Thoughts on Scientific Research for the Future of Leather,"
"Development and Prospects of the Leather Industry,"
"Exploration of Collagen-Based Materials in Health and Energy
Applications," and "Research on Advanced Functional Collagen-Based
Materials Utilizing the Multi-Level Structure and Surface/Interface Properties
of Collagen."
The conference has collected 93 paper abstracts,
arranged for 31 oral presentations, and also gathered 62 electronic posters. Additionally, the 12th Zhang Quan Fund Award Ceremony was held during the
conference.
The conference announced that the 16th National Conference on Leather
Science and Technology will be held in Jinan in 2026, organized by the Faculty of
Light Industry, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences).
