On the afternoon
of September 3, 2024, the 2024 International Tanning Industry Development
Summit, hosted by the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA), was held in
Shanghai. Over 100 attendees participated in this event, including Li Yuzhong, Vice Chairman of China National Light Industry
Council and Chairman of CLIA; Chen Zhanguang, Vice Chairman of CLIA;
Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Honorable Consul General of Consulate General of Pakistan
in Shanghai; Kerry Brozyna, President of the Leather and Hide Council of
America; Muhammad Mehr Ali, Chairman of the Pakistan Tanners Association; Marc
Brunel, General Director of the French Cuir Alliance; Letícia
Luft, Manager of the Brazil Leather project at the Centre for the Brazilian
Tanning Industry; Knud Buhl, Chairman of the Danish Agriculture and Food
Council; Zhang Yan, Secretary-General of CLIA; as well as representatives from
international organizations, industry associations, universities and research
institutes, renowned domestic and international brands, manufacturers,
entrepreneurs, and medias. This summit was live streamed online for the first
time, with nearly 3000 viewers.
In his opening speech,
Li Yuzhong expressed that CLIA has always advocated and promoted mutually
beneficial cooperation among leather industry organizations worldwide,
fostering collaborative development of the global leather industry through various
means such as technical exchanges, resource sharing, market exploration.
The theme of this
Summit was "Global Vision, Grasp the Future." Five professionals
including Chen Zhanguang, Kerry Brozyna, Letícia Luft, Marc Brunel, and
Muhammad Mehr Ali, were specially invited to analyze the development of the
leather industry in China, the United States, Brazil, France, and Pakistan,
forecast future trends, and engage in exchanges and learning to jointly
promote high-quality development within the leather industry.
