Tiziana Gambicorti, the new chemicals commission chair
The International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS) has announced the appointment of four newly elected commission chairs.
The IULTCS said each chair was selected due to their dedication, leadership, and vision for the organisation.
As commission chairs, “they will play a crucial part in shaping the future initiatives, fostering collaborations, and driving positive change for IULTCS”, the organisation added.
The new chemicals commission chair is Tiziana Gambicorti, who works as the standardisation and sustainability manager at Biokimica SpA – Italy, where she is responsible for the chemical analysis laboratory and is project leader for measuring the sustainability of the company’s products, in order to improve environmental performance.
New environmental commission chair, Daniele Bacchi, is the environmental division manager at ITALPROGETTI. He is responsible for the company’s general plant design, supervision of equipment construction, installation and startup projects, coordination of commercial activities, and research and development.
The sustainability commission chair is Kim A. de Sena, who is the sustainability director for JBS SA, where he is responsible for the sustainability department of the company’s Leather Business Division. Among his main activities are strategic planning, management of Life Cycle Assessments of materials, traceability, and chain transparency projects.
Finally, Dr. Volker Rabe is new research commission chair. Volker is the head of wet end research and development for TFL Deutschland GmbH, in Leverkusen, Germany.
“The officers [who form part of the IULTCS executive committee] and IULTCS members look forward to working closely with the new commission chairs to help achieve our shared goals… and the officers are confident that each one will excel in their new role,” said the organisation.
Meanwhile, the IULTCS has announced the dates for its 38th Congress, which will take place in Lyon, France, from 8-11 September 2025. The theme will be ‘Beyond leather tradition, innovation and sustainability’.
