Sports sector gears up for ISPO

Hong Kong brand Mount to Coast’s T1 is among products vying for an award at next week’s ISPO Munich trade show.
The collaboration with BASF is the first to use CircleCELL, a midsole made with BASF’s ecoflex BMB biopolymer.
Puma CEO Arne Freundt and the World Health Organisation’s Dr Fiona Bull will be among 500 speakers at the show, which will also host tennis stars Alexander and Mischa Zverev and Andre Agassi.
The Digitize & Retail Hub and partner conference Sports Tech Nation will showcase the latest tech innovations that are transforming sports retail and the sports industry.
The ISPO Award, ISPO Brandnew and ISPO Textrends platforms showcase innovative products, promising start-ups and material developments.
UK brand Ulu’s Amak Winter Trail Running Shoe, which “closes the gap between traditional trail running shoes and heavy winter hiking boots”, is also nominated for an award.
The trends in athleisure, sports fashion and streetwear will be presented in a separate hall. In the ‘Zeitgeist by ISPO’ area, brands from partner fair Copenhagen International Fashion Fair will show sports fashion concepts that traditionally come from the fashion sector.
The BiotexFuture Fall Forum, a research project by RWTH Aachen University, IFS, ITA and Adidas, is dedicated to finding biological alternatives to petroleum-based plastics and chemicals. The results of this research will be presented in the Sustainability Hub.
ISPO Munich takes place between December 3 and 5.
