The industrial experts held a meeting on "Risk Assessment Report on Hazardous Properties of Leather Scrape Containing Chromium, Transportation and its Utilization " (hereinafter referred to as "Assessment Report") on April 21, 2022, the meeting reach a consensus that the scrape of crust leather and finished leather does not contain hazardous chemical, and low risk of blue wet leather is on transportation. The experts said the risk is acceptable for recycling and reusing of chrome-containing scrape leather (for instance: making gelatin, industrial protein, bonded leather, electrostatic flocking materials) to environmental and health.
The Assessment Report provide key theoretical research support for Technical Regulations for Pollution Control of Leather Scrape Containing Chromium, the Technical regulations is thought to be ecological environmental standard approved by Ministry of Ecological Environment and will take effect from April 1, 2023.
It is said the Technical Regulations provide a wide way for chrome-containing leather scrape, and plays a great role on promoting the industry the high-quality and sustainable development. It also provides important technical support for revising relevant environmental regulations and implementing environmental management rules.
