The export value of Uruguay’s manufactured products has been on a downward curve for a number of months, according to manufacturing industries association CIU, and leather is not immune.
For the month of May 2015, CIU registered a year-on-year decline in export values of the country’s entire range of manufactured products of 11.8%, following falls of 11.1% in April, 7.7% in March and 4.6% in February.
Specific to leather, CIU gave a figure of 4.6% as the decrease in export values for the textile, clothing and leather sectors combined, but it said the reason for this figure was a decline in the value of leather.
