Following the announcement of its full-year financial results earlier this year, Chinese sports group Anta has released its environmental, social and governance (ESG) report for the period which ran from January 1 to December 31, 2021.

The document considers Anta’s total operations, focusing on China, but excludes figures for its Amer Sports subsidiary. It marks the group’s seventh ESG report.

Key highlights include the establishment of an internal sustainability committee, the scope of which extends to board-level participation, plus signing up to corporate sustainability initiative the United National Global Compact and providing 2,817 local teachers with training in physical education.

The group also said that it had “launched eco-friendly products”, donated sportswear worth around $40.5 million (¥270 million) at tag value and supplied $9.7 million or ¥65 million in cash to those in need over the year. Its number of employees totalled 52,000 by the end of 2021, in addition, with 34.7% of executive positions being filled by women.

Anta further emphasised its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, ten years earlier than the Chinese government’s own goal of doing so by 2060.

Group chairman, Ding Shizhong, stated that over the next decade the company would “bear responsibility for society and the environment, so as to move towards the goal of sustainability”, but also continue to develop sports brands in line with market demand and grow its global footprint, with a view to “create maximum value for all stakeholders”.
